Anthony Road Chardonnay 2016: $17 Good+

The Anthony Road Wine Company “Unoaked” Chardonnay (Finger Lakes, NY) $17 [Good+] is not a sweet wine, but it dos have a confectionary quality which brings to mind almond croissants, banana cream pie, and pear tart.  Some drinkers will like these qualities, some will not.  Dry, with moderately intense flavors and good balance, this wine can be sipped or paired with lighter dinner dishes — think pears, apples, and almonds.

Medium straw in color, the aromas have a confectionary quality, with scents of almond, pear, ripe apple, lemon, and hints of green apple chewing gum and charcoal ash.  Medium bodied, off dry, soft, with a satiny mouth feel, balance is good.  Flavors of pear, apple, banana, almond, and hints of sour green apple chewing gum and charcoal ash have good intensity.  The finish is mild mannered and of a piece, and ends on a slight bitter note.  Length is average.  April 2017
