Damiani Cabernet Franc 2016: $22 Very Good

The Damiani Wine Cellars Cabernet Franc (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $22 [Very Good] is a full bodied wine with minimal tannin, solid fruit flavor, and subtle oaky nuances.  Lack of structure holds it back a bit.  Drink it with snacks or dinner.

Medium ruby in color, the aromas feature very ripe raspberry and black cherry, with subtle accents of chocolate, baking spice, vanilla and stony mineral.  Full bodied (13.9% alcohol), plump, with fine tannin providing barely enough structure, balance is good.  The wine tends to lose some structure and focus with air.  Rotund and moderately intense flavors of raspberry and black cherry are inflected with touches of baking spice, herbs, and stony mineral.  The finish is lightly gritty, slightly sour, with good length.  Flavors linger.  April 2018
