Hermann J. Wiemer Gewürztraminer 2015: $25 Good

The Hermann J. Wiemer Gewürztraminer (Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $25 [Good] is a medium dry Gewurztraminer with dilute flavors that don’t make much of an impression.  It is expensive for this level of quality.

Medium lemon yellow in color, there are light musky aromas of pear, lychee, butterscotch, and a hint of earth.  Medium bodied, medium dry, with a meandering mouth feel, balance is OK.  Dilute flavors of pear, lychee and a bare hint of spice lack force and liveliness, and fall flat.  The finish is a bit spicier than the mid-palate and short on length.  January 2017

Note:  After a day in the fridge the Wiemer turns more smoky and oily, with somewhat better flavor concentration.  Bitter notes develop too, which detract.
