Ravines Gewürtztraminer 2016: $20 Good+ to Very Good

Ravines, which is known for very dry wines, produced a candied Gewürztraminer in 2016.  Full flavored, with juicy confectionary flavors, this is a wine for drinkers who prefer their Gewürz on the sweet side.  It is a better sipper than food wine.

Medium pink-hued straw in color, the Ravines Wine Cellars Gewürztraminer (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $20 [Good+ to Very Good] has juicy confectionary aromas of pear, lychee, rose, cardamom and ginger.  Medium to full bodied, medium dry to medium sweet, with mouth-tingling spice, balance is very good.  Ample flavors of pear, apple and cotton candy are accompanied by rose and spice.  The finish shows more spice, as fruit falls away.  Length is very good.  Drinkers who prefer very dry wine may find the finish somewhat cloying.  September 2017
