Dr. Konstantin Frank Rkatsiteli 2015: $15 Good

The Dr. Konstantin Frank Rkatsiteli (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015: $15 [Good] is a svelte and satiny wine with low-intensity flavors.  Stony and bitter notes in the flavors and finish lessen its appeal.  It is much less attractive than the 2014, which as the best Rkatsiteli I have ever tasted from Dr. Frank.

Pale lemon in color, the aromas are cool and lightly intense, with scents of fruit cocktail, pineapple, pronounced stony notes, and hints of buttercream and herbs.  Medium bodied, dry, svelte and silky textured, balance is good.  Flavors of fruit cocktail, pineapple, stone, hints of herbs and a bitter note have light intensity, with the stony/bitter elements getting the upper hand over fruit.  The finish turns more stony, herbal and bitter with average length.  Bitter notes linger.  October 2016
