Hector Wine Company Pinot Blanc 2016: $17 Good+ to Very Good

The Hector Wine Company Pinot Blanc (Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $17 [Good+ to Very Good] is a pretty wine, with aromas of orchard fruits, white flowers and beeswax.  This bottle is not especially concentrated — it relies to a greater extent on its good balance and charm.  A very nice sipper, it will also work with lighter foods.

Medium straw in color, fresh and creamy aromas of pineapple, pear, tangerine, white flowers, beeswax and earth are pretty and appealing.  Full bodied, off dry, with a round open-knit mouth feel and a slight spritz, balance is good.  Flavors of apple, pear, tangerine, white flowers, beeswax and earth are fresh, decently concentrated and light on their feet, making this a fine wine to sip.  The finish is gently tangy, with good length.  December 2017

Note: Less impressive after a day in the fridge, this bottle is best consumed in one sitting.
