Hector Wine Company Pinot Gris 2015: $18 Good+

In general, Pinot Gris made richer wines in 2015 than 2014, but Hector Wine Company went the opposite direction.  This winery made a better 2014.  The Hector Wine Company Pinot Gris (Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $18 [Good+] is more Grigio than Gris.  This is a soft and gentle wine, well-made, with modest flavor intensity.  It is best sipped, rather than served with food.

Light to medium green-ish lemon in color, the aromas are fresh and delicate, with scents of melon, green apple, underripe pineapple, and suggestions of bubblegum and oak.  Medium bodied, dry, with a firm but soft mouth feel, balance is good.  Somewhat dilute flavors of green apple, melon, hints of pineapple, bubblegum nad mineral have modest intensity.  The finish turns a bit spicier, with average length.  November 2016
