Billsboro Sauvignon Blanc 2015: $15 Good to Good+

The Billsboro Winery Sauvignon Blanc (Sawmill Creek Vineyards, Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $15 [Good to Good+] has raw aromas, tart moderately intense flavors and rather awkward balance, especially before aeration.

Pale lemon in color, the nose is raw and acidic with light aromas of lime zest, grapefruit, gooseberry and stony notes.  Medium bodied, dry, high in acidity, balance is a bit awkward, especially before the wine has been given some air.  Flavors of lime, lime zest, ripe grapefruit, gooseberry, green herbal notes and rubber have good intensity but are somewhat harsh.  The finish is assertively tart, with average length.  April 2016

Note:  Give this wine some air before drinking or put it away for a few months, which may allow it to shine a bit brighter.
