Hector Wine Company Sauvignon Blanc 2015: $14 Good

The Hector Wine Company Sauvignon Blanc (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $14 [Good] is a big and alcoholic wine, like last year’s edition, but tastes dilute and unfocused, without the lush hedonistic flavors of the 2014.

Medium lemon in color, the aromas are diffuse and often elusive, with modest scents of gunflint, musky peach, lime zest and gooseberry.  Full bodied and dry, with a loose-ly structured mouth feel, balance is just OK.  Diffuse flavors of white peach, grapefruit, citrus zest and gunflint are rather hollow, lacking concentration and precision.  The finish is slightly tannic, a bit awkward, and short.  August 2016.
