Fox Run Cabernet Franc 2015: $22 Very Good+

It is hard to resist the temptations of the Fox Run Cabernet Franc (Finger Lakes, NY) $22 [Very Good+].  This is a very pretty and well made wine. Far too easy to drink at the dinner table, the contents of this bottle disappeared quickly.  It is my candidate for the 2015 Cabernet Franc to drink now, for its quaffability and charm.

Medium ruby in color, pure and beguiling aromas of raspberry, black cherry, cola, spice, vanilla, tobacco and fig constitute a very classy nose. Medium bodied, with good acidity and well-integrated fine grained gritty tannin, balance is very good.  Flavors of raspberry, sweet black cherry, cola, fig, vanilla, a bit of brown spice, and a stony mineral element are quite attractive.  This wine has very little of the green & peppery elements so often prominent in Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc.  The Fox Run finishes well, on an even keel, with lingering notes of fig and smoky/stony mineral.
