Keuka Spring Merlot 2016: $17 Very Good

The Keuka Spring Vineyards Merlot (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $17 [Very Good] is a soft, low-tannin wine with a good deal of alcohol and substantial juicy black cherry flavors.  This wine is very easy to quaff.  Have it with cheese and crackers or with dinner.

Light ruby in color, medium intense aromas of juicy cherry, black cherry, vanilla, roasted nuts, tar, and cedar are attractive.  Full bodied, soft, dry, with light gritty tannin, the Keuka Spring is a big mouthful of wine.  Balance is good.  Juicy alcoholic flavors of cherry, black cherry, vanilla, roasted nuts, tar and dusty stones have good concentration and focus.  The finish is of-a-piece, lightly gritty, with a little burst of cherry fruit near its conclusion.  Flavors of cherry and dusty stones linger.  December 2017
