Ravines Keuka Village Red 2016: $10 to $13 Very Good

While Finger Lakes wineries produce many value-priced white wines, high quality well-priced red wines are extremely difficult to find.  The Ravines Wine Cellars Keuka Village Red Wine (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $10 to $13 [Very Good] is always a good value.  But this year, the wine is richer than usual and hits all the right notes, making it a sensational value.  Full of ripe red and black fruit, with a soft and supple mouth feel, this wine is extremely easy to drink.  It is a fine sipper and will pair with many cheeses and dinner entrees.

Dark ruby violet in color, the aromas are full of juicy red and black berries, accented by balsamic, graphite and chocolate.  Medium bodied, with low tannins and slightly peppery acidity, the mouth feel is very soft and supple.  Balance is very good.  Flavors of red and black berries and chocolate are accented by graphite and balsamic.  The flavors have very nice intensity.  The finish is quite soft, supple and balanced, with just a little spritz and very good length.  September 2017
