Sheldrake Point Gamay Noir 2015: $18 Good+

The Sheldrake Point Gamay Noir (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $18 [Good+] is the best Gamay Noir from this winery in the past three years, with moderately intense cherry and sour cherry fruit and a bit of complexity.  Sip this wine or drink it with lighter foods.

Very light ruby in color, the Sheldrake has light aromas of cherry, gunflint, roasted nuts and stone.  Medium bodied, slightly viscous, with light gritty tannin, balance is good.  Flavors of cherry, sour cherry candy, and light accents of vanilla and gunflint have average to good concentration.  The finish is of a piece, with a slight bitter note and average length.  November 2016.
