Sheldrake Point Dry Riesling 2016: $16 Very Good

The Sheldrake Point Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $16 [Very Good] is a solid Riesling, with apple, lemon/lime and anise flavors, and just a touch of sweetness.  It is a good sipper, and worked very well with Sweet and Spicy Roast Chicken.

Medium straw in color, the aromas are tart and sharp edged, with scents of white flowers, lemon/lime, lemongrass, apple, anise and a mineral note.  Full bodied and medium dry, acidity and elevated alcohol give this mouth filling wine a slightly prickly character.  Flavors of lemon/lime, apple, white peach, anise and chalky mineral have good concentration.  The finish turns drier, slightly bitter, with good length.  February 2018
