Wicked Water Dry Riesling 2016: $18 Good+ to Very Good

The Wicked Water Dry Riesling (Sawmill Creek Vineyards, Finger Lakes, NY) 2016 $18 [Good+ to Very Good] is solidly flavored, with an interesting interplay of creamy and citrus-y elements.  Bitter notes in the flavors and finish holid it back a bit.  This wine can be sipped or served with dinner.  It is less impressive after a day in the fridge, so consume it in one sitting.

Medium lemon in color, fresh and lively aromas feature lime, lemon, stone fruit, citrus zest, a touch of caramel, and shalestone mineral.  Medium bodied, medium dry, with snappy acidity and a roundish mouth feel, balance is good.  Flavors of lemon, lime, apricot, caramel, shalestone, and a light bitter note have good concentration.  The finish turns drier, and ends on a moderately bitter note.  Length is good.  September 2017
