Glenora Dry Riesling 2015: $15 Good

The Glenora Wine Cellars Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $15 [Good] has an attractive silky texture and appealing floral apple/apricot fruit.  On the negative side of the ledger, intensity of flavor is relatively low and the finish is excessively herbal and bitter.  This wine deteriorates overnight in the fridge, so drink it in one sitting.

Medium lemon in color, the aromas are light, svelte and laid back, with scents of ripe apple, bitter apricot, lemon/lime and weedy/stony notes.  Medium bodied, medium dry, with low acidity for a dry Riesling, the Glenora has a silky gentle mouth feel.  Balance is good.  Flavors of ripe apple, apricot, lemon/lime, bitter herbs, and a flowery note have low to moderate intensity.  The appeal of this wine diminishes substantially in the finish, which is herbal and unduly bitter.  October 2016
