Serenity Dry Riesling 2015: $17 Good

The Serenity Vineyards Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) 2015 $17 [Good] is an easy-going peachy/honeyed wine with modest flavors.  The wine falls flat (literally) with its lack of acidity & vibrancy.  Suggestions of ozydized fruit in the finish also detract.  This wine is expensive for this level of quality.

Medium lemon yellow in color, aromas of honey, peaches, anise, wet cement and a hint of acetic acid have modest intensity and lack liveliness.  Medium bodied, dry, soft, with nice texture, balance is good.  Modest flavors of peach, honey, chalky loam and herbs don’t make a strong impression and have a mildly oxydized character.  The finish is of-a-piece but weaker, with fruit flavors diminishing quickly, replaced by notions of oxydized fruit.  October 2016
