Fox Run Semi-Dry Riesling 2015: $14 Good

The Fox Run Vineyards Semi-Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes, NY) $14 [Good] is a medium sweet wine, with a rather harsh chem lab nose and typical Riesling flavors of good intensity.  Bitter notes in the flavors and (especially) the finish detract.  Sip this wine with snacks.

Medium green-tinted lemon in color, the aromas are rather harsh and acidic, with scents of steel, gunflint, lemon, apple, and white peach.  Light bodied, medium sweet, with a good deal of tart acidity, balance is good.  Flavors of lemon, apple, white peach, bitter citrus zest, and a mineral note have some intensity but are rather nondescript.  The finish turns toward tartness, and is a bit ungainly, with some notable bitter citrus zest.  Length is average.  Bitterness lingers.  October 2016
